Accessing a locked folder

I have just installed a new hard drive and put a clean
copy of XP on it. I have access to the old drive but I
can't get access to the files from my old desktop.

If i try to open the folder it says access denied. It is
obviously carrying over the password from when it was the
system drive.

I get no option to put in a password to get access to the
folder.

Any ideas?

Yes, look up "take ownership" in Help and support. Your disk is most
likely formatted to NTFS and the permissions are set to the previous
account. You may need to log in as administrator, or from an admin-level
account.

Thanks very much for that. It was exactly what I was
needing. You have saved me from losing some important
files.

cheers
