I have an Allnet NAS 6200 external drive with a 250 GB HDD inside. This
is a network drive, where the HDD internally is formatted with a Linux
file system.

I'm planning to stop using the Allnet box and instead get a USB 2.0
external drive box and put the 250GB HDD into it. How can I access the
data on the drive ? Is there a utility which allows you under XP to
read/write to a Linux formatted HDD conected via USB 2.0 ?

this utility will allow you to *read* a linux partition
from XP

http://uranus.it.swin.edu.au/~jn/linux/explore2fs.htm

you cannot write to ext2/3 from any XP utility
and from Linux you cannot *safely* write to an NTFS partition

to allow read/write access from both XP and from Linux
you should setup a fat32 partition that both OS's can share
