I can access my TS fine through a RAS connection, but when
I try access it through a VPN over the internet, it times
out trying to attach. Do I need to open a port or
something on the firewall to allow RDP packets through?

Thank you.

Hi,

Terminal Services requires that TCP port 3389 be open, but if you are going
through a VPN you should be able to pass 3389 traffic inside the VPN and
not need to open 3389 along the way. If there is a router or firewall
between the tunnel endpoint and the terminal server, you will need to open
TCP 3389.

Thanks,

TCP port 3389 needs to be open so that RDP packets can
flow properly.
