The icon 'Accessibility Options' has mysteriously disappeared from my Control
Panel but there is still a blank space where the icon is supposed to be. Also
when I follow the route 'Start/All Programs/Accessories/Accessibility/...'
the Accessibility Wizard and On-Screen Keyboard are missing. I don't know
exactly when this happened but a couple of attempts at System Restore have
not resolved the problem. Can anyone help me get these items back?

To clarify my earlier posting, the reference to my Control Panel was for
'Classis View'. When I switch to 'Category View' I do have Accessibility
Options shown but when I click on this and then on 'Configure Windows to work
for your vision, hearing and mobility needs' I get an error message -
Windows cannot find
'%SystemRoot%\System32\accwiz.exe'. Hopefully this may help someone to offer
a solution.

Try this: (Make sure you have Windows XP CD in your CD-ROM first.)

First, search accwiz.exe in your Windows\System32 folder. If it is there
then double-click on it see if it works otherwise try the following command.
This command will scan for any corruptted system file and will replace it.

sfc /scannow

If that doesn't solve the problem then expand the missing file from your
Windows XP CD. To do this try the following command. Replace X with your
CD-ROM Drive letter.

expand x:\i386\accwiz.ex_ %systemroot%\system32

Hope this help, let us know!

Unfortunately I do not have a Windows XP CD to help with this problem. I have
done a search for accwiz.exe and it does indeed lead me to find the
Accessibility Wizard in my system, but without a CD how can I get it back to
the places where it should be so I don't have to 'search' for it?

I think, I pointed out the wrong file as the missing "Accessibility Option"
concern with ACCESS.CPL. But doesn't matter as you don't have the Windows XP
CD.

You can download the ACCESS.CPL from the following site.

http://www.jonmega.com/iceman/sysfiles/download_SP1.php

Extract and save the ACCESS.CPL file to \Windows\System32 folder.

I deleted by ACCESS.CPL 3 times to check what happen but it was still
opening the Accessibility Options and when I saw the \Windows\System32 folder
the access.cpl was not only there but also 3 items were in the Recycle Bin of
same name. As it was recreating the file. Very stange!!

Hope this help, let us know!
