Access97 Text Import Error

Recently my company upgraded it computers, but not Office (not yet anyway).
In the new Hard Drive image, Access 97 will not import text files (yes it did
it on the older systems). You can begin the import process, choose the .txt
extension, but when you select the file and click import you get an error
msgbox with "There is no object in this control", and then the Import Text
Wizard continues as if it has a file to import, but the box is blank and all
you can do is cancel.
Our Desktop build team has reloaded Office several times, but that has not
fixed it. They claim they are looking into it, but nothing is happening and
I have users who need this function. Any one have any ideas?

Hi, Don.

The new load may not have all of the drivers and libraries registered
properly. Please see the following KB article for a list of the files
containing drivers that need to be registered properly for Access 97:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q171955

You may also need to re-register your DAO library. Click Windows Start, and
then
click Run. To register the DAO 3.51 library located in the default
installation directory, use the following command (all one line):

Regsvr32.EXE "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\DAO\DAO350.DLL"

HTH.

Gunny

Okay, sorry about the delay on giving feedback on this. It took a while for
our IT helpdesk to realize this was the desktop I was using while they fixed
my laptop. So they closed the ticket the first time. (Laptop is a whole
other problem that should be fixed by reimaging the hard drive. If not, I'll
be back)

Yes this was the solution. It took the tech a few tries to get it straight.
We have IT people who have been messing with Reg files and we have users
inouse on Office 97 and some on 2000. So thank you Gunny and John for
stepping up and assisting. The amazing thing is others in my company have
the same problem and have been told that we can't fix it. Now the tech, who
fixed my system, is going to fix the others. Thanks again.
