Access97 button to merge to word doesn't work under Win2000 pro

My workplace leased pc's were replaced recently. Previous
op was WinNT 4.0. Now they are Win2000 pro. I has set
up a command button on a form that would open Word, merge
the info from a current record, print Word doc and close
Word. It was based on Knowledge Base article Sending
Access record to word by automation.

We remain on Access97, but that button does nothing now.
It still works on NT machines. I see there is a Win2000
patch for Access 97, does anyone know if it addresses
this issue?

The report formatting was too complicated for an access
report.

What do you mean, the button "does nothing"? Do you mean that when you click
it, the code does not execute? Or, it executes, but does not do what you
want? Have you added some MsgBox'es to see how far it gets?

Show us the actual code that starts Word.
