Access won't start

After getting frequent error messages during closing down,
I re-installed Microsoft Office 97 Professional, which has
worked for me for years. Word, Excel and Powerpoint
continue to work, but when I try to open Access97 I
recieve error message: "Microsoft Access can't start
because there is no licence for it on this machine."
If the other Applications in Officd work, why does Access
not work?
