access won't create a report

When I try to create a report based on my table/query, access won't do it.
The Design view doesn't produce anything, and the wizard view comes back w/
an error message reading "The wizard is unable to create your report". But
there is no explination for this problem.

If there is anyone who knows how to fix this, I would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have a printer set up?
Access won't create a report if there is no printer defined.
 
The computer is set up to a network printer, but there is a printer. Is there
anything else that would cause this problem?

Try:

Install a printer on LPT1 and make it to the
default printer (take HP Laserjet IIP).
The printer must not be physical connected to LPT1.
Try to create a report now.

I have the same problem with an entire lab. With an administrator account I
can create a report in preview just fine. Some of the report wizard
functionality doesn't work even as an admin. Something about a function
already open error message comes up.

On a restricted student account however the same problem arises. Reports in
Design View to absolutely nothing. No error message. the Wizard gives me
unable to create report error with a network printer installed. We are using
a unix based CUPS program to manage them.

I have tried playing with permissions groups giving "users" "modify" rights
to the entire office folder in program files.

I"m at a loss right now. Any help would be much appreciated.
