I have a workgroup set up with a win2K and winXP computer but i can not
access the winXP from the win2k but I can access the hidden shares fine from
the other way. FYI: i am using the run command with the unc
\\computer_name\C$ or \\computer_ip-address\C$ also both computers have a
user account which are members of the administrators group.

It depends on if the XP computer is using simple file sharing or not..
If you are using simple file sharing, administrative shares aren't
created...

i haven't enabled any type of file sharing on the winXP Pro box. i right
clicked on c drive, chose sharing and attempted to share root drive as c$
but it says that it's already an administrative share so i back out and try
to access hard drive from my win2K Pro box...i click run, type
192.168.2.105/c$ (winXP Pro computer), a box asking for username and
password comes up. i enter in correct credentials but it continues to remove
what i enter and wait for me to enter username and password again. cycle is
endless.

thanks,
henry

Hey guys, I have the same problem but it wonn't let change the suggested
user.
I can only put a password cause the username area is grey...

Any ideas???

You are attempting to connect to a box running Simple File Sharing...

Take a look at Steve/Rob's article at
http://www.practicallynetworked.com/sharing/xp_filesharing/index.htm
to setup the sharing and w/ instructions on how to access the file...
