I have had Office Pro 97 for years and had no problems
with it at all. I have not been able to get into Access
for a long time now. I have tried, uninstalling,
reinstalling, fixing problems by checking the installation
and nothing is helping. I get the message "Microsoft
Access can't start because there is no license for it on
this computer". All other parts of the Office 97 work
fine. Anyone have an idea why this has happened and can
give me any help? Sure do hope so! Will appreciate all
help I can get. Thanks!

Does this KB article help?

ACC: "There Is No License" Error Message Starting Microsoft Access

Dirk,
I started out getting the same message as Janice. I
tried uninstalling Access97 out of Office 97 and
reinstalling it. Now I get a message that says "This
application must be installed to run." I've run the setup
program an unstalled Access and reinstalled it several
times but nothing seems to work. I've download and run the
file that you suggested but that didn't help. Got any
ideas what I might try now?

Not many. The only KnowledgeBase article I've been able to find that
includes that message text is this one, relating to Office 2000:

I suppose it may apply to Office 97, too, so have a look at it and see
if it seems to apply in your case.

As a last-ditch, desperate measure, you may want to use the Eraser97
tool to completely remove Office 97 from your system and *then*
reinstall it. This is more drastic and complete than a simple
uninstall. Read the article linked below and its related articles very
carefully before proceeding, to make sure you take the steps that are
appropriate for your operating system.
