Access to Single Document

I have an Excel document that multiple remote users need read and write
access to. These users are outside consultants. My first idea was to create
a user account, and give them access through the Terminal Server. I would
install a group policy to lock down the desktop and give them permissions to
this one document. Kinda simple, does anyone have any better ideas? Thanks a
lot!!

That is as good as way as any. My only fear is that you'd
need to make this user only able to logon twice, since two
people accessing the file at the same time could result in
lost data.

Yes, youre right. I was working on it today, struggling with the policy, but
that's another issue. As far as the Excel workbook is concerned, I put a
shortcut to it on the desktops of a few test TS users. When I was logged on
to the TS simultaneously as userA and userB from two TSAC clients, both
users were able to open it. But when saving a change, Excel said the file
was READ ONLY and had to SAVED AS to another location, defeating the purpose
of one 'master file'. In the properties sheet on the file in the share, READ
ONLY is not checked. Conversely, on the LAN, userA opens the file from boxA
and changes can be saved to it. UserB opens it from boxB and gets the
message the file is locked for editing and has a choice between READ ONLY or
being notified when the file is no longer in use. That works for me as this
file will seldom actually be opened simultaneously anyway. Is the difference
in these two behaviors because one is a shortcut and the other is the actual
file and how would one go about making this work? Thanks for the help!

Hmm...this sounds like a problem with Excel. If you have
the people on the TSAC double click directly on the Excel
document, rather than through a shortcut, does it then
work (and say it is locked for editing)?

Oh, I noticed you referred to the RDP web access as TSAC.
Just so you know, the TSAC application had a security flaw
in it and it is recommended that you stop using this
version, and instead use the Remote Desktop Web Connection
Software:

Right again! In Excel had to go to tools|share workbook|check allow changes
by more than one user, As to the RDP client, Remote Desktop Web Connection
only works on XP. Is there a security fix for W2K users and is there a kb
article on the flaw?
