I used to be able to access this news group but cannot any more. Are there

Wanadoo discontinued Newsgroups in March. If you want MS newsgroups, then
just set up a new news server in OE. Use msnews.microsoft.com as the server.

Thanks but I have already got MS newsgroups. Are you saying that no one
supports Wanadoo newsgroups?

There's no Wanadoo news server in existence. if you don't need binary
groups, then look here:
www.individual.net

10 Euros per year, excellent retention and replication.

I dropped Wanadoo after March for that very reason, they dropped ng's
without warning.
Im now with Madasafish and very happy with it.
For binaries I use Forte Agent.

Forte Agent is a news READER not a news SERVER......

Yes, you should use
nntp://news.microsoft.com:119/microsoft.public.windowsxp.basics to access
this newsgroup directly.

Individual.net is a spam and troll haven with no active abuse staff, and
hides the NNTP-Posting-Host making abusers totally unaccountable. Because
of this, what was once a good news server now receives very little if any
propagation thanks to unmitigated abuse.

You're better off going with Teranews. They're cheaper, they propagate, and
they don't tolerate abuse.

What a load of unmitigated CRAP.

When I tried I got a message saying that this was not a recognised format

No, not really. Go search through news.admin.net-abuse.usenet,
individual.net comes up on a regular basis as the source of much chagrin
among news administrators. I know my news server drops individual.net
posts because of this.
