Duncan

I have a custom built MS Access database that I run in
Access 97. This database contains several test fields
that contain 300+ characters. I have macro's and menu
driven commands that aexecute the macros, that create
tables of data for export into Excel.

When I export (Or "Analyse")them in XL, I find that all
data has been cropped to 255 characters (including
punctuation & spaces), and this cannot be varied. Is
there any way that the full fields can be exported to XL,
without losing the data that is >255 characters in a
single field?

Hi Duncan,

Try using File|Export instead of Analyze with Excel. Select Excel 97 or
later format, and don't check "Save formatted".

Just happened upon this response today. I am using Access 2000 on Windows
2000. When I tried to export the query the 'Save Formatted' checkbox was
checked and grayed out. Is there a way to go in and make this option
visible?

Hi Lars,

The status of "Save Formatted" depends on what you're exporting to. For
instance, IME it's disabled and checked if you are exporting to RTF or
XML. What are you trying to do?
