I backed up data to a CD and now I can not access the CDs
either from Run or from Word. "You do not have access to
this folder D:/ see your administrator for access to this
folder." This is just my home computer, no permissions or
administrator controls are on it.

Thanks for the help.

Did you finish the 'write' process to cd drive D, and is the cd in the tray?
To use a CDRW as a storage device, you should use Nero INCD or Roxio's
similar packet writing facility..

Thank you Mike. This turned out to be a 'duh' experience.
When I went to Roxio I saw I needed to format the disk.
There was nothing that said that on the box and no error
message in My Computer that said "CD not ready to use" so
I thought I had accomplished the task. That "access
denied" message is pretty useless wording though. Why
doesn't it just say "the CD is blank (dummy)".

You're welcome.

Such a message would have to be triggered from the Roxio software as that
function within their product requires it. If you use the XP built-in
function, formatting isn't required but then you can't drag and drop and
save directly to disk or backup directly to disk either.
