FWIW, a full time employee with Access only (No SQL
Server, VB, etc.) would probably be able to get $35K here
in the Dallas area, unless they had YEARS of experience
and very solid VBA skills.

Then the salary level has dropped considerably since I stopped keeping up to
date on what _employees_ are paid. For years, the beginning wholesale rate
for a competent Access developer (which would include journeyman VBA) was
between $40 - 50 per hour. Employees, who got benefits, probably got half
that much... or just under $50,000.. to two-thirds... or just over $70,000.
Special skills and experience wound raise that figure.

But, I am aware that the job market here went South a few years ago (a
little later than some areas), but indications are that it is "coming back"
now. So, Kevin's figure may be accurate for the low range here.
Interestingly, the Dallas area pay scales for Access tended to be higher
than many metropolitan areas, just behind New York and Los Angeles, during
the boom.

You are correct....jobs have gone south here in terms of starting salary.
The problem is that companies are expecting more than just Access. If that
is the only tech skill you have, it will be almost impossible to find a job,
since guys like me are out there looking as well. I have 10 years of
Access, 4 SQL Server, 4 with CRM/SFA and an MCSE certification. Most of the
contract rates I have been getting offers on are in the 20-30/hr range.
Some are better, most not.

So, Keven, could you go up a couple of emails and give me
our point of view on my " MS Access db, SQL,
Internet/Intranet" question?
