Hi,

I have a database used on a LAN & WAN has a back end for
the data and front end with forms and queries. Speed is
ok but sometimes, forms can take 15 minutes to open.
Quick fix is to open form in design view and then save it
and close form. Next time form opens it only takes 1
minute at the most. But something happens and slows it
down again every couple of days or something... anyone
know a better way of doing this? Or what causes it? Very
frustrating and have quite a few users using the system so
not convenient to keep logging them out!

please help!

thanks

Hi Andrew,

Go to Tools > Options > General and uncheck "Track Name autocorrect Info"
and "Perform Name AutoCorrect". These functions are useful in the Db
Developement stages but "could" slow things down.

A lan is fine....

A WAN is usually much too slow to run ms-access.

As mentioned, you no doubt have turned off track auto correct. You no doubt
has a split arrangement. You no doubt distribute a front end that is a mde
to each user. You also no doubt keep a persistent connection to the back end
database.

For the above list of tips....check up:

So, if you done all the above..then performance should be acceptable on a
office LAN, but for a wan....you still can use ms-access, but you need to
read the following:
