Hi, I have a question,
For a small business,
how long approximately will access file reach 1Gb?
1 year?
Thank you.

Strange question!

It depends how much data you want to store!

You will probably find it will take a lot longer than 1 year to reach 1GB.
Unless you are storing binary information or using it for document
management or something like that. But if you are storing mostly text for a
small business you may struggle to get it above 1MB.

I think the versions from Access 2000 are bigger because they use Unicode
which uses twice the storage per character.

How long will it take to fill a bucket?

I could fill an Access file to 1 GByte in five minutes, with some VBA
code; I've got databases in regular use which will never come anywhere
near that size. It depends totally on the structure of your database
and the volume of your business.

I'd not worry much about it. A gigabyte is a LOT of data (we're
talking encyclopedias full of data); just compact regularly and
monitor the size. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

A2000 and newer use Jet 4.0 which supports 2 Gb MDBs. That said at a
clients the A2000 version of their 180 mb MDB went to 250 Mb. Or
about 30% larger. So you'd be able stuff more into an MDB in the
A2000 version.
