Hi,

I have two WinXP PC's in a network, without domain (only workgroup, both the
same)

On both I have created exactly the same user name and password

I have made a share drive on one of them, and wanted to connect to it from
the other
However, when I select ths first one in My network places, Windows prompt me
with a login dialog, with a username box containing MYFIRSTPC\Guest and
disabled and with password box.
So I cannot enter the username I want in userbame box

I have also a 3'rd pc, WinXP also, and I can access it very well, (the same
accounts, and the same a shared drive)

I admit I made some settings on first PC with Poilicy editor and I think I
mess up with something
I did that because the first PC is always on, and connected to Internet on a
cable connection (I use it as a web, ftp and mail server)
So I mettings was to make it not show default winxp login screen but instead
show login style as in Win2000, and do not show last logged user

Can anyone help me to fix this?
Thank you
Bogdan Zamfir

assuming you setup auto logon, you may try to disable it.

If using XP Pro on the inaccessible machine, go to Folder Options> View and
disable simple file sharing.

If using XP Home, you can still accomplish what you want but will need to
read a bit. Found the articles at the following link to be helpful when
setting up my home network (one for Pro and one for Home):
