I started to secure an Access databases, but decided that it really didn't
really make sense. I fooled with it until I thought I had removed it.

The current state is that I can open any Access 2000 database and it seems
to be normal.

The problem:
Since that terrible day when I tried to add security, Crystal Reports is
having problems. When I try to add a table to the report, it is prompting
me for a password. I have no idea what the password is. This problem is
attached to all Access databases. It appears that this is an Access
Security problem and not a Crystal Reports problem since when I connect to
SQL Server, it works as expected.

What I would like is to remove all security on my database so I am not
prompted for passwords.

Any suggestions out there?

Thanks
Lance

1. Search your computer for *.mdw and note all the paths that it finds.

2. Next use Start, Run, wrkgadm.exe. It will show you the workgroup you are
joined to be default.

Hopefully, step 1 will list more than one file, and step 2 will show you are
not joined to one called system.mdw in the windows system folder. (Please
post back if this isn't true).

While in the workgroup administrator, you'll want to join the system.mdw
file that's located in the windows system folder.

I would then open Access, start a new database and import all objects from
your old mdb.

Hi Becky,

You are joined by default to a workgroup where the Admin user has a password
set. Use search to find all *.mdw files on the computer. Then you can use
the workgroup administrator to join the standard system.mdw workgroup in the
windows system folder. As long as that workgroup is in its original state,
you won't be prompted for a password.
