Hi all,

I'm having this problem on several workstations. These workstations
previously had Office XP professional on them. I removed office xp pro
and installed XP standard. Because of some accounting software they
use, I had to install the access 2002 runtime. When I go to use the
software or anything that uses the access runtime (I also have some
custom access apps that use it) it pops up saying it needs to be
reactivated in order to work correctly. But it's not asking for a
product key, it's asking for the CD. If I put the cd in, it seems to
be copying some files or something then it just takes me into access
without starting the programs. In the case of the custom apps, if I
click file/open and point it to one of the .mde's I use, it says it's
opening it in read-only mode. Which as I gather, means the program is
running in "unactivated" mode. If I close the window and try again, it
starts the process all over again. The accounting software just exits
back to desktop after asking for hte cd and copying the files.

Does anyone know what would cause this or how to fix it? I've removed
and reinstalled it a few times and also dug through the registry
removing any left over access entries. But with no change in the
outcome. Does anyone know how to get past this? Thanks!

Download the Office Resource Kit from MS, and use
it to clean off the remains of Office.
