Hi

I have XP Pro, I have two PC's connected to a Wireless Router, but they are
connected by cable not Wireless, it is a Belkin Router but I do not have
Belkin software installed as I prefer to let Windows manage the Network.

Is there some way I can access the Router, the address in the Belkin manual,
192.168.2.1 does not work.

Perhaps there is some software that will allow me to access the Router.

Any Ideas.

thanks

Daniel

The Belkin Manual says 192.168.2.1, but I tried your
numbers and they do not work either.

Daniel

Did you change the factoy defaults? I suggest insert a pin/paper clip
in the small hole in the router and keep it there for about 10 seconds
to reset the router to factory settings.

Then try using the default address http://192.168.2.1

Do you get any errors? Is the router plugged in to the power?

please post the text output of

Hi

is there any way to copy the text in a DOS wndow?
Or is there another way to run IPconfig?

thanks

Daniel

Hi

I am concerned that if I reset the Router, I will not be able to reconfigure
it, since I cannot access it.

BTW, the Router is working okay, my PC's are not Networked but do share
internet connection through the Router.

cheers

Daniel

If you click on the little icon in the upper left hand corner of the command
prompt window you can choose "edit" then mark ... your cursor will change to
a white block .. click and drag to highlight all the text you want then
press enter .. then it will be copied to your clipboard and can be pasted
into notepad or right into here

what is this router plugged in TO?

unplug the WAN connection and power cycle the router. then reboot
the computer and try again.

if that does not work, you need to reset the router to factory

again, what I asked you to do is disconnect the router from the
modem and power cycle the router when it is not connected to the
modem. do not connect the router to the modem. now boot the computer
with a wired connection to the router. do not plug the router into
the modem.

my apologies for misunderstanding your advice but my excuse is that is was
after midnight and I needed some sleep.

BUT, I have done what you asked and it worked, I have also reconnected the
Modem and it still works.

I have been able to access the Router and reset the security password (key)
which is what I have been wanting
to do.

Thank you very much for your help and perseverance
