We have recently upgraded our desktops to SP3 and now we have an issue with
an access database. The database creates a copy of itself when closing and
saving changes, I have checked the settings and compact on close is not
selected, this was something suggested on a forum. I have been unable to find
a solultion or any guidance to resolve the issue.

Thanks in advance

What do you mean by "when closing and saving changes"? (This isn't something
native to Access, so describe it, please.)

Sorry my unfamiliarity with the app. The database is accessed through a front
end on a network drive, when exiting the database a copy is created on the
network drive. The copy is smaller, therefore it looks as though it is
compacting and repairing.

The user accesses the database frequently during the day and is ending up
with numerous copies.

It sure sounds like compact on close is enabled AND that user doesn't have
all the required permissions on that folder. Make sure that all users have
Read, Write, Create, and Delete privileges on the database file AND the
folder that holds the file.
