Bill

I have been using Access for six months. I am trying to
set access permisions for my group of 20. Somehow, in
trying to do this in the past, I have named myself as a
User. I created all of the reports, forms and tables used
in our database. Because I am designated as a user,
Access will not let me set up permissions. Any idea on
how to get me set back up as ADMIN? Thanks

What workgroup file are you using to log on? What username and password?
It's likely that you didn't properly secure your application, and simply
logging using the default system.mdw file would work.

Also, what version of Access are you running.

Access ULS is a tricky and complex beast. You need to do quite a lot of
reading regarding this issue, and the best place to start is the MS Access
Security FAQ at
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=/support/access/content/secfaq.asp

Somewhere previously in the access.security ng, someone posted, "Your best bet is to hope you forgot a step in setting up the ULS."

Yep ... very true and I'd bet more than 80% of first timers forget at least
one step ...

I am using my personal User Name with no password. The
file opens fine and I am able to create/edit and get
around in the tables/reports fine. I am running Access
2000. I tried to set permission based upon one of those
big fat Access books. I started with myself, and
basically, for a time, locked myself out of the file
completely. Thanks for your help. You are all very kind.
