Access Page Probs. w/ Windows XP & Vista

I’m using a PC using Windows XP Professional and Access 2000.

When I create a Access Page using the page wizard I receive the message “The
wizard is unable to create your data access page.†In design view, the
created page show no fields. The Field List for the created page shows no
associated tables. Right clicking the Database icon in the Field List, then
Connection, allows connection to the database and the fields now show up in
the Field List, but no fileds (from this list) may be added from the list to
the page.

I have a PC that is running Windows NT 4.0 and everything works fine there.
The pages can be created, viewed and show data. However, pages created with
this NT PC come up blank and with no fields when viewed with the Windows XP
Professional PCs.

What is the problem with trying to build and view data access pages with the
XP systems? I have the same problems with a Vista PC which is also running
Access 2000. I looked through this forum but could not locate any information.

Maybe that's because few people ever took DAP seriously. It has been
dropped from A2007 (hint, hint).

Maybe because the Office Web Components (OWC) have not been installed. The
version 9 for OWC are available only on the Office 2000 installation media.
The versions 10 and 11 can be downloaded from the following URL but I don't
know if they are compatible with A2000:

As for locating information about DAP & OWC, you must know that the DAP's
technology is pretty much dead by now and practically nobody use them
anymore.

Thanks for your help. You were right. The Office Web Components had not been
installed. It was listed as "Run from disk". I installed this and can now
view the form (w/ fields) in Design. No data comes up on the form and
everything else (the Field List, etc.) is still not working. There is
something else missing.

This is the first time I tried to use this DAP feature and will likely stop
here. Maybe this thread will help someone else who attempts to use it.

While I have been working with Access for many years, I now find it
desirable to view (only) data via a web page. Can you recommend a general
route to do this, that is, show Access data on a web page?
 
Sorry but I cannot really answer your question about showing Access data on
a web page because there are way to many different factors involved into
taking this kind of decision and a good decision for one situation might be
a disaster for another location. The only thing that I can suggest you
would be *not* to use DAP but for the rest, I suggest that you make some
exploration by yourself or ask a local consultant.
