Hi !

I have an aplication made in Access 2000 runs in LAN, everything is OK.

Now I need to use this same application over VPN to connect with external
offices.

I'm already create the VPN between central and remote sites and works fine.

I have a central server (windows 2000 server), in this server I have only
the databases.

If I run the application in a remote site, send me an error :

\server\database\polo\base.mdb can't find this file.

I know what over WAN netbios is not routeable, this is I can't use a PC name

1) I can change this path \server\database\polo\base.mdb for
\192.168.3.3\database\polo\base.mdb ?

If this si possible, where I need to change this ?

other thing, for a remote PC , I can access to the hard disk of my central
server, if using access 2000 I try to open a database, send me this error :

"Microsoft access can't open this file"

This file is outside the Intranet or in a site of little confidence.
Microsoft Access will not open the file due to security problems

In order to open the file, copy in its equipment or a location of the
network to which it has access."

I think , this is a security error, now, I need to assign different access
rights is my server ?
I'm using the normal security right, read, write, modify.

I hope what you can help me , really I need a hand with this.

Thanks in Advance !

In theory, you should be able to open the file over a WAN but in practice
the performance will be terrible.
Plus there is an increased possibilit of corruption.

I would switch to SQL Server (or MSDE) which can accept connections over the
web or VPN.
