I recently purchased a msn email account. I am running xp. I now use outlook
to manage my earthlink mail and I cant get outlook to download my new msn
mail account. I followed the instructions in "tools"

what version of outlook and did you get msn premium or outlook live? in
either case, you may need to use the outlook connector to download it. Also,
it may take several hours for HTTP access to work, but I believe they are
disabling http in favor of using the connector.

I purchased MSN HOT MAIL PLUS and I have outlook 2003. How do I gain access
to this "connector".

you can't use the connector with plus - so http should work. did you set it
up as an http account? if so, what error message did you get?

Thank you for your patience. It is set up as http. I do not get an error
message. I have the mail service provider as MSN. I have msn http as default.
When I click on send/receive in outlook the system downloads my earthlink
mail and does not get the msn mail.

I think it only gets it when you open the folder, but it's so long since I
used http that I could be wrong. Ctrl+Alt+S - see if the http account is
configured to check on send and receive.

I can't thank you enough for your help. The problem is solved. This am I
deleated my msn account and started over. I then found in the window at the
far left, way at the bottom, an msn account. I would guess it has been there
all along. What led me to believe it was not working is the email in the msn
account doesn't seem to delete itself as my earthlink account does. Bottom
line is the msn mail is dumped to my outlook exactly as I wanted it to along
with my earthlink stuff.
Thanks a whole bunch. the old man :>)

the local folder is a copy of the online mailbox, much like imap. It's only
deleted from the server if you delete it locally.

Dear Ms. Poremsky: I have used Outlook 2003 for years, and all was well with
the world. But last Saturday morning a pop-up appeared and told me I
couldn't use Outlook Connector (which was already in my menu bar) unless I
was a subsciber. I couldn't send and receive, so I tried to subscibe and
the site wouldn't validate me. So I looked in the Office programs and saw
that no one was named as owner. I distictly remember activation and
registration--there were no problems then. 2003 is just fine for me--I'd
like to get rid of this Connector thing and have all as it was. Tx, RW

have you got the very latest version? (The "must subscribe" bug appeared in
a prior version and was fixed in the latest version....)
