I'd like to VNC into a PC that is behind a server & router.

Server is on external IP 217.x.x.A as well as having local IP 192.168.100.1
running Windows 2000 with ISAServer (has two NICs)
Router is on external IP 217.x.x.B and is a DrayTek Vigor2800
WAN IP is external IP 217.x.x.C

My PC is assigned a local IP (192.168.x.x) by the server. However in
Vigor2800 NAT Port Redirection I can only set private IPs of non-local IPs
(217.x.x.x).

Or maybe there's no way (other than VPN) to access my PC directly which is
behind a windows server & router?

Ypi should be able to set up a port re-direct from the router to the PC
directly, if the follow "style" is your network:

<router> ------ [network switch] -------- { Windows 200 server}
\_____________ [ Your PC ]

If not then, VPN is the only way.

Also, if you do not own the network where the server / PC is connected to, you
must inquire with the people how own / manage this network so as to see if you
would be allowed to to this first.

<router> ----- [network switch] ---- [Windows 2000 Server]
\-------[My PC]
above is how it's setup

the router doesn't accept 192.168.x.x addresses...

It must accept the port forwarding as follows:

217.x.x.C to 192.168.xx.bb ( or just bb.)

In Vigor2800 NAT Port Redirection when I try 192.168.101.xxx it says
"Private IP error".

In my DMZ Host Setup I got 217.x.x.x enabled... what's this?

In my LAN General Setup I see:
---
For NAT Usage 1st IP Address 217.x.x.x, 1st Subnet Mask 255.255.255.248
For IP Routing Usage DISABLED
---
Should this bit be enabled? Also the DHCP Server is disabled also... because
Windows 2000 Server does the DHCP for our domain.

Well, in the Online Status page the LAN IP is 217.x.x.x and WAN IP is
217.x.x.x+1. Maybe I can't port redirect if am on a different subnet?

Also, does anyone know what I need to open if I want to access a remote VNC
server? My friend can do it from home... but I seem to be blocked... either
by 2000 Server or Router...
