"Access Is Denied" on Network Share CDROM

I have two computers (XP Pro. and W2K Pro.) in a workgroup. I attempt to
share the cdrom on the W2K comp. and access it from the XP comp. and get the
error. I have already successfully shared and accessed the "C" drive on the
W2K computer and do not get that error. So why do I get the error when
trying to access the cdrom?

Check the security options for the W2K computer in Local Security
Policy. There is an option in there that allows/prohibits network sharing of
floppy and cdrom. --- Steve

Thanks Steve

I feel I need to further clarify my problem before I go on. I do have access
to folders on the CD that's in that CDROM but cannot access the ROOT (D:\)
of the CD. I can map a drive to a folder on a CD in the CDROM but cannot map
to the D: drive itself. I cannot access it using D$ either. There are files
in the root I need access to and cannot get to them. I have checked the
Local Policy in the W2k comp. and it is disabled. I also figured I could
sign on as the administrator (through the XP machine when I map the drive)
but still no access. I disabled Norton Firewall just in case that might be
causing the problem and still no access.

Any other ideas?

I know that administrative hidden shares are not created for
removeable media drives like a cdrom, but you should be able to share the
whole cdrom drive. Did you highlight the cdom drive in explorer and then
select properties/sharing to try to create a share for the whole drive? If
you have done that then check the permissions for the share to see if
appropriate permissions have been assigned and that there are not any deny
permissions. -- Steve
