I am trying to import data into Access. I have tried importing both a
spreadsheet and text file using the transferspreadsheet and transfertext
options. Each time I get the 2391 Error message (Field F1 doesn't exist in
destination table). I am not using field names in my files (and cannot since
that would mean manually inserting them). Since the hasfieldnames option
exists I would think that I can get away with this but have had no luck. I
would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks

If you're trying to import to an existing table, you either have to have
field names in your file, or else create an import specification to map the
incoming data to the appropriate fields.

This sometimes happens to me when I transpose columns of data to rows for
import. I think it has to do with Non-printing data within a cell. I would
highlight all blank rows and all blank columns and delete them. I had to do
this to keep Access from assuming that a cell with a NULL in it was supposed
to be imported. It must grab the column number and assume you want to use it
as the field name, therefore it fails.
