I need to know how to round off the result of formulas to
the higher number. Ex. My formula gives me the following
results: 20.005 and 25.005 which show as 20.01 and 25.01,
but when it is added in my report, the result is 45.01
instead of 45.02. Help

When I add 20.005 and 25.005, I get 45.01. What you see is based on how you
format -- and format only affects display, not underlying value. Are you
saying you wish to change the values from 20.005 to 20.01?

Wouldn't that introduce an error, if you had 10's or 100's of values to add?
What about the "Law of Insignificant Differences?" You know, "if you add an
insignificant amount, plus an insignificant amount, plus an ..., pretty soon
you have a darned significant difference."

Jeff: I appreciate your reply. The problem is that we
are talking about individual payments, and the reality is
20.01 and 25.01, so when I print the list to send the
total, it adds up to 45.01 and I am a penny short. I
formated the field to 2 decimal points instead of "auto"
to see if that helped, but it didn't. Help again.

Format is format, no matter where. 20.005 is 20.005 ... and if you are
talking about payments, how do you receipt a half-penny in payment?

What's the underlying source of the values?

You could always use a rounding function (note, function changes value), but
then that pesky law of insignificant differences comes back into play...

we are talking about mortgage payments and we collect
half of the payment every two weeks. When the payments
is an odd number (ex. $525.01), I deduct $262.51 (since I
can't deduct $262.505), which, X 2 is a total of $525.02
a month. That is the amount I am going to pay. But if I
have two clients with odd payments, it's going to add
the .005 + .005 = .01, so, even though the payments on my
report read $525.02 and $525.02, the total is going to
read $1,050.02 instead of $1,050.04.
You mention using a rounding function, how do I do that?
thanks.
