I durring the recent power outage
I had a system go down which
resulted in two access database files
being corrupted. Does anyone know
of a FREE software utility that would
repair these files?
If you have already tried, in the database window, Tools | Database
Utilities | Compact and Repair, as you likely have, then there is a utility
available from Microsoft called JetComp (alas, I don't have the URL, so
you'll need to search for it -- I'd start in the Knowledge Base at
http://support.microsoft.com) that might work. If not, opening the database
in a more recent version of Access sometime helps.
If all else fails, Peter Miller at
http://www.pksolutions.com will give you
a free estimate on the cost of recovering your data. I've heard of cases
where he was able to, and did, suggest an approach for a potential client to
recover their own data, free, but he is in the business of data recovery.
