Hi,

I created a new account in windows XP as not administrator.
When I opened the ms access 2003 I was surprised, it opens read only.

What can I do to open ms access for the users that doesn't have
administrator permissions?
The file is not read only. If I open as administrator I don't have this
problem.
Word and excel file open without problems, only access has this problem.
I opened the Northwind.mdb and is the same, read only.

Why an account as not administrator can we not open ms access file? It open
read only

Thanks a lot,

JP

This sounds more like an Office question. Office programs have a setting
that can "lockdown" a file - blocking changes by anyone other than the
creator/owner. If you want anyone to access the file (read and write) then
the setting in Office should be disabled.

To test, log on as the limited user. Create a new Access file and save.
Then open the file to see if editing is allowed or if it remains read only
too.
