access error 0xc0000005

When attempting to install a programm -starting mostly
with an .exe file I get an initialisation error, see above.
Installation to be abortet.
It gets worse: not all .exe file are refused, some are
carried out (e.g. setup.exe - sometimes)
XP performs otherwise without problems
Any idea?

An error code of 5 means 'Access Denied'.
Are you logged on as an Administrator of the machine when
running the install ?
