What Happened

Our Microsoft Access 2000 worked fine then we ran spybot
and adaware software. Now Access won't open.

The error message says "this application requires IE5 3.0
or later...."; however, we have Internet Explore 5.0 with
the service paks.

Could a required file have been deleted or corrupted by
one of these applications? We tried to download IE5 but
the Microsoft site thinks we have it and doesn't give us
that option.

When we tried to install IE5 from the Windows XP disk, we
unselected the IIS option since we already had it.
Unfortunately, it then deleted the existing IIS files so
we lost that, too.

Any ideas on how to get back into Access?

Thanks.

I routinely run both Sybot and Adaware, as well as other security software.
I have no problems on any Office system. Windows and Office are very complex
systems. It's difficult to say what your problem is and how to fix it. If it
were my machine, I'd save all the data files off to another machine (or burn
CDs) and then completely wipe the hard drive and reload everything. I know
this sounds drastic, and it is, but it will assure the safest and cleanest
possible system.
