userid\documents\pictures is not a folder it is a 'junction point' your
pictures are located in
userid\pictures
Junction points area there for legacy programs to get them to the correct
place.
Turn off showing system and hidden files and you won't be bothered with
seeing them.
If you have a "pictures" folder in your documents folder, then it's
user-created or was created by software you installed. The default in Vista
is C:\Users\<user>\Pictures, not C:\Users\<user>\Documents\Pictures.
In fact, the folder that the OP is likely seeing is the "My Pictures"
junction point and Michael is correct in his assessment of the problem.

It's tough trying to figure out a posters 'My Pictures' vs the phrase my
'Pictures'. In this case I went with the error he was having.
Yes you can have an ordinary folder c:\users\userid\documents\pictures but
you would probably (unless you worked hard at getting rid of it) the system
folder c\users\userid\Pictures which is generally where the system will
think you should be storing pictures.
Ok u are correct I have system & hidden files on. Tnx
