access denied

I am running windows xp home edition. I have 3 admin users, mine my husband
and daughter. After a reinstall when my daughter logs in to hers it comes up
with windows cannot access the specified device path or file no permissions.
I have tried setting up another user but I get the same error. I have looked
through the newsgroup but I am a bit worried about changing the registry. I
would be grateful for any help.
