WinXP Home - not on a server.

I tried to rename a folder containing two sub folders, and got an "access
denied" message. I clicked properties, unchecked the read-only box, and
applied to the folder and all subfolders via the checkbox. Same result.

I then repeated the process and did the same for each of the two subfolders
as well - same result, and the "read only" boxes are magically checked each
time.

What's the solutions?

Read-only has nothing to do with it. Take ownership of the folder.

NOTE: If you are running Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition, you must start
the computer in safe mode, and then log on with an account that has
Administrative rights to have access to the Security tab.
