Hello,

When I download a file from the internet I get the option to open or save
the file. If I choose open, the file downloads but when its should open I
get the following error for my C:\documents and settings\....\local
settings\temporary interent files\content.IE5....
Access to the specified device, path or file is denied.
I have adminstrator rights on my computer. How can I fix this?

Try saving it elsewhere. What happens?

I can save it and then open it but I'd prefer to have the "automatic" open
like I had before.

This is the default download file which I do not get to choose when I select
"open" before the download starts.

Sounds like your profile may be damaged or corrupt. What happens if you
logon as a new user? (create a new account in 'User and Passwords').

Can you navigate to the location? open from there?

| Hi Dave,
|
| I set up a new user and logged on as that user. I get the same error
message.

I noticed the article applies to
Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0, when used with:
Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition (32-bit x86)
Microsoft Windows XP Professional

I have Windows 2000 Professional and IE6.0.2800.1106 with SP1 and Q823353.

I don't think it matters but you might ask them here.
