Access Denied, XP Pro, SP2, Peer to Peer LAN

Hi
Running Win XP pro SP2 on 4 machines,,, peer to peer LAN (workgroup)
My problem is, I can not connect to any of the shared folders I’ve created
on one of the machines from any of the other machines. Each machine can open
any of the default Shared Doc folders for each of the users of all the
machines. The machine that will not grant permission to view (open) any of
its folders I have shared on the network can view (open) all the shared
folders on all of the other machines.
I first noticed the problem after installing a second license of QBooks on
one of the machines. When trying to point QB’s to the company files on the
host machine I’d get this,,,,
â€â€â€ \\ blah blah\shared folder name is not accessible. You might not have
permission to use this network resource. Contact the admin of this server to
find out if you have access permissions…. Access is deniedâ€â€â€â€

Also,,, not sure if this has anything to do with it, but,,, the machine with
the second seat of QB, in the My Network Places folder is listing all the
shared folders not on that machine as located on The Internet and not on the
Local Network as it should,,,,,,,, Man am I confused!!!!!!!

Can the other machines ping the problem computer? If they can't, then
something on the
problem computer is blocking icmp packets. If they can, then post the
results of ipconfig/all on all computers.
A clue to the cause of this problem may lie in these posts.

As for the second question, how are the computers getting their ip
addresses? The use of an Internet IP instead of
whichever it should is a symptom of the computer not getting an IP from a
dhcp server. If the IP addresses are not
listed in the HOSTS file and if the computer cannot find a dhcp server, then
XP uses an address from the block of such
addresses which belong to MS. In short, it seems that to me that your
situation is the result of an incomplete or improper
network setup.

Hi Jim, thanks for chiming in
Yes, the other machines can ping the problem machine. I did not think that
would be the problem seeing though they could access the shared doc folder of
the problem machine, just not any folders on the hard drive I elected to be
shared on the network.
As for the second question, how are the computers getting their ip
addresses?

cable modem// to 10/100 router // to 10/100/1000 8port switch,,,, they are
all pluged into the switch

This set up use to work fine,,,, the problem machine recently had a
reformatt and reinstall of Win XP by a local geek shop,,,,, I guess I'm
headed back there to get this running.

So basic networking is working. What kind of authentication are you using?
The "Access Denied" message means that the account on the remote machine
cannot access the folder.
Either you are trying to use an account which is disabled, or you are trying
to use an account which does not exist, or you are not passing the correct
password.

I have three users on each machine,,, each are admins,,,, each have exact
same name and password.
