Access Denied to Portable Hard Drive File

I am being denied access to one of three folders which exists in m
Sony Vaio Portable Hard Drive

I am not very knowledgeable in IT matters and in an effort to restric
access to one "sub-folder", I have locked myself out of th
folder

Can anyone suggest how I can regain access since folder contains man
years of family photographs

If that doesnt work, one of the bootable CDs like knoppix or Bart PE
has a ute that allows you to browse regardless of file permissions.
 
I tried the suggested websites which suggested that I could regai
ownership of the folder by "right clicking" on the folder
choosing "Properties" and the
going into the "[b:d887453664]Security [/b:d887453664]tab"

However, the first problem I encounter is that for this particula
folder only, no Security tab exists

Any ideas

You didnt follow the instructions to turn simple file sharing off.
