I have some virus on my PC and Norton Anti Virus can't delete them. When I try to access the files where virus is installed, a window opens to inform that can't open because the disk is full or protected against writting or is being used. What can I do to delete the virus?

boot safe mode. The AV software may be preventing you from deleting the
files as they are in quarantine.

You may even want to boot to command prompt as long as you write down the
full path before you start. You could also write a batch file to delta the
files boot to command prompt then run the batch file if you are comfortable
with that.

You may also want to try booting with your Norton CD and then it should be
able to delete the virus!

You'll have a good chance of removing it if you boot to safe mode and take ownership
of the file/folder, which you can't do in a normal boot. Push on the f8 key
while your booting to get to safe mode. Make a note of where the files are first.

GK,

I tried that on my daughter's laptop but it doesn't get to the c prompt. It only lists the files that it's booting up with and then boots up. What am I missing here? Thanks
