My daughter's computer has a virus file (A0017106.exe) found by the virus
program located in "C:\System Volume Information, etc.". The virus program
can't delete, quarantine or clean. We can't manually locate and delete as
the computer tells us "Access Denied" to that folder although she is the
computer administrator.

How can we get to that file and delete?

I had the same problem as you in the last 24 hours - i had a trojan but it was in the same folder - its the system restore folder and no you cant access (believe me i tried!) best bet is to turn off system restore which will clear all previous restore checkpoints (getting rid of the virus too theoretically), reboot your pc, scan it with a virus checker, turn system restore back on, reboot and then create a new checkpoint... seems a bit laborious but it worked for me! hope this helps
