Hi,
Thanks to those that helped me re-take ownership of my personal documents
folder after a system crash, and re-install of XP Pro (12/20/07). Here's my
problem now. I can now view my old user account (was password protected on
old OS), and open it, and all of the folders inside of it. What I can't do,
is use, or access any of my old files yet. As a result, I cannot copy any of
the files anywhere...to my current "Documents" folder, or a jump drive, ect.
I will receive an "access is denied" message everytime when trying to access
any of the individual files (docs, media player, jpegs, all of them). I did
assign fulll control to myself, and a seperate user account I created, while
in the security tab in Safe mode , and disabled file sharing (before taking
ownership). and was able to now see and open all of my old folders, but
unable to use any of the contents therein. Do I still need to go back in
safe-mode and and use the security tab, then advanced, permission tab to
change "inherited permissions from parent to child objects", to "replace
permissions" (both of those slightly abbr.)? Or perhaps my problem has
nothing to do with that at all, and is something else entirely? I have tried
"enabling file sharing" again, but that did nothing to help the problem
either. Any suggestions or help, whould be *greatly* appreciated once again.
Thanks in advance all, and Happy holidays to everyone.
