Access Denied Installing KB835732

Greetings,

I'm trying to install Windows Update KB835732. This laptop
is win2K pro sp-4. It has all critical updates except this
one. System is free of viruses and up to date. When this
update is installing it gives an access denied message.
I'm logged on as local admin. This PC had this patch
installed before, but had the problem that the system was
slow. So I uninstalled the patch. Now, since there is a
hot fix, I am trying to reinstall this patch. I've even
downloaded the update to the PC and tried to run it, but
same message.

Any ideas?

I have no personal experience with this problem, but other
threads on this group have reported changes to the
permissions for the \winnt folder following the 835732
patch installation. This might be something to check.
