Those are not true folders. They are junctions that point legacy
applications to their new locations in Vista. You will notice that they are
'greyed out' as well as having the shortcut overlay.

Documents and Settings is now Users.

C:\Users\yourname\Documents is the new folder in Vista.

That is because it isn't a real folder. That is a junction point for
backwards compatibility with applications. Use c:\users\%username%\Documents

Those folders are hidden for a reason. Go ahead and reset them as hidden:

Organize > Folder and Search Options > View > Hide protected operating
system files

Unless you really need to view those files, you really don't need to have
hidden files visible.

In Vistas Windows Explorer I am unable to access folders that display a
shortcut icon. These include Local Settings, My Documents, Recent, SendTo,
Start Menu and others. When I click on the folder the following error
message appears:

"Location is not available. C:\Users\myname\My Documents is not accessible.

Access is denied."

I'm the Administrator (and only user) on my computer.

Never mind, I figured it out.
