'access denied' error in opening Outlook 97 archive.pst in WinXP Pro environment

Does anyone know how to open an archive file for Outlook
97, when this 'access denied' error message keeps me from
doing so? Do I have to change a registry value or
something? This is really irritating, because I cannot
get to 50% of my Outlook stuff without getting to the
Archive.pst file. If it is any help, all archives I
created under a Win2000Pro system, and now I have WinXP
Pro. Please see article from Microsoft for reference,

OFF97: "Access Denied" Error Message When You Open a
Document That Contains a Control
Applies To
This article was previously published under Q280829
SYMPTOMS
When you open a Microsoft Office 97 document on a
computer that is running Microsoft Windows NT Workstation
or Windows NT Server, you receive the following error
message:

Access Denied.
CAUSE
This problem occurs when the document contains a control,
and the user's %homedrive% in the user profile points to
a read-only share or directory.

Controls in Office 97 products need to create an .exd
file in the Windows NT user's %homedrive% directory. For
