Access Denied after moving file/folder

After moving file(s) or a folder with sub
folders...attempts to open the folder/sub folder/file(s)
resulted in an "Access denied". There is only one user
(me) with administrative priv. I know how to reset the
owner priv's... my question is "why did it do this in the
first place?" and is there an easy way to set priv's for
all folders and files below/within a certain folder?

Weird. Was this move to the same partition or another?

cacls.exe from the command prompt.
