Hi,

I am trying to edit the downloaded database from my wifes
web site.
I download the file, edit it and as soon as I close it
Access sends it straight to the recycle bin!
Any ideas about this anyone, its driving me potty.

Regards to you all

Mark

Humor me on this next question.
Are you editing it with Access (what version?) after downloading or some
other application?

Hi,

It is Access 2002

I am downloading an on-line database through Dreamweaver
MX as the FTP in order to delete some entries.
I open the file (created in access) and as soon as I
close it (edited or not) it throws it in the recycle
bin!!!!!!!

Really bizzare.

Dunno. Do you have it set to 'Compact on Close'
(Tools, Options)? How are you downloading and
opening it?

Hello David,

No it is not set to compact on close, I am downloading it
through the FTP included with Macrmedias Dreamweaver MX.
I am really puzzled and more than a little bit peed off
with it at the moment.

I am probably doing something stupid but cannot see it.

Regards

Mark

So you are executing an FTP command, you get the file,
the file lands where you want it on the hard disk, then
you open Access, Open the file, (edit) Close the file?

We need to separate out the effect of the web download
from the affect of MS Access.

We have never seen Access delete a file on close. Except
when doing compact on close, and even then I don't think
it goes to the trash can.
