I am trying to find a search utility that will allow me to do a quick search
of an Access Database, without having to use Access.

We have a program, at work, that stores it's data in Access tables but this
program doesn't have very good search capabilities. I don't want to teach
all users to use Access to open up the file.

Thanks,

?

You don't have much of a choice all things considered. ultimately, I don't
get the problem. You're going to have to build a custom form with the search
functions that you are looking for. your other alternative is to get a
developer to build you a VB (or other language) program which links to your
db, but this would be a waste of money. Access has all the power, tools,
functionalities that you seem to require it is just a question of using them
correctly.

I have devloped numerous search tool in access to the complete satisfaction
of my clients. It is all a question of creating good forms. If developed
correctly, they should be user friendly and sturdy! Your user shouldn't even
need training.

Take a look at

Part of my problem is that the database is in an older version of Access than
we use at work, and I cannot convert it and save it or it won't work with the
application front-end, anymore. Also, I can't even open the file if anyone
at work is using it within the front-end application.

I was hoping there was some little utility that I could just download and
install.

Thanks for your comments, though.

You don't need to open the back-end database...

You need to add a search form(s) to your existing front-end.

Maybe you should think about updating the front-end and back-end to the
version you now use!
