I have a co-worker with an Access 2000 database that is running slow
(yes, I know Access 2000 is long out of print).

What are your recommendations for making it run faster?

Correct the problems in the database... whatever they are, which cannot be
ascertained at this distance.

Some suggestions: back up the database first and use Tools... Database
Utilities... Compact and Repair Database; analyze the tables to see if there
are appropriate indexes on the fields that are used for searching or sorting;
review the queries to see if they are appropriately designed and optimized;
make sure that there are on antivirus programs affecting the operation of the
database.

Good luck!

You don't say what "running slow" means. Are displays coming up slowly? Queries slow? Is the hardware as old as the software? If it is a matter of query speed, try indexing the essential fields.
